Students in the DLF phases preparing for engineering entrance exams usually juggle three things: school (CBSE, ISC or IB), a coaching programme, and their own practice. A JEE maths home tutor is not a replacement for any of these – it is the piece that turns hours of study into marks. This guide explains how the maths sections work and how one-to-one tutoring fits in.
How maths is tested (based on the 2026 bulletins)
The figures below come from the official 2026 documents. The 2027 bulletins may change details, so check them when NTA, the IITs and BITS publish them.
JEE Main (Paper 1, B.E./B.Tech.)
- Mathematics has 20 multiple-choice questions (Section A) and 5 numerical-value questions (Section B), for 100 marks out of 300.
- Negative marking applies to both sections.
- The exam is three hours for all three subjects.
- If you take both sessions, the better score counts.
- In a tie, the NTA score in Mathematics is the first tie-breaker.
JEE Advanced
- Two papers of three hours each; both are compulsory.
- Question types and the marking scheme are not fixed in advance – they are given in the instructions at the exam, and negative marking may apply to some questions.
BITSAT
- 130 questions in three hours, of which 40 are Mathematics – the largest single part.
- Mathematics is again the first tie-breaker.
The pattern is clear: maths carries real weight in every one of these exams, and it decides ties.
Where a home tutor helps most
Coaching gives structure and a large question bank. What it rarely gives is individual attention. A JEE maths home tutor is most useful for:
- Fixing foundations. Many JEE problems are lost on Class 11 basics – quadratic equations, trigonometric identities, functions, limits. A tutor can find and fix these quickly.
- Problem-solving method. Learning how to start an unfamiliar problem, not just memorising question types.
- Accuracy and speed with negative marking. Knowing when to skip is a skill; a tutor can train it with timed sets and error analysis.
- Coaching doubts. Working through the questions your child could not solve in coaching, so they do not pile up.
- Boards and JEE together. Keeping school marks safe while JEE preparation goes deeper. See our guide on JEE Main and CBSE boards together.
A sensible weekly plan
For a Class 11 or 12 student already in a coaching programme:
- Two home sessions a week (around 90 minutes each): one on the current coaching topic at greater depth, one on weak areas and mixed problems.
- Daily practice: a fixed number of questions, with every mistake logged.
- A timed test every two weeks, reviewed with the tutor question by question.
Students not in coaching may need three sessions a week, with the tutor covering the syllabus in order. See JEE Main maths syllabus and study order.
Why home tutoring suits the DLF phases
Coaching centres are spread across Gurgaon, and evening traffic around MG Road, Golf Course Road and Cyber City eats into study time. A tutor who comes home on fixed days – whether you are in DLF Phase 1, 2, 4 or 5 – saves that travel and keeps the routine steady through Class 11 and 12.
Maths Bodhi JEE tutors in the DLF phases
Maths Bodhi tutors teach JEE Main, JEE Advanced and BITSAT maths at home across DLF Phase 1, 2, 4 and 5, and online. Frequently asked questions
- How many maths questions are there in JEE Main?
- Based on the 2026 bulletin, JEE Main Paper 1 has 25 maths questions – 20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value – for 100 marks, with negative marking in both sections. Check the 2027 bulletin when NTA publishes it.
- Does maths decide ties in JEE Main and BITSAT?
- Yes. In JEE Main the NTA score in Mathematics is the first tie-breaker, and in BITSAT the Mathematics score is used first.
- Do I need a JEE maths home tutor if my child already attends coaching?
- Not always. A home tutor helps most when your child has gaps in Class 11 basics, unsolved coaching doubts, or careless errors under negative marking.
- Do Maths Bodhi JEE tutors come to DLF Phase 1, 2, 4 and 5?
- Yes. Maths Bodhi tutors teach JEE Main, JEE Advanced and BITSAT maths at home across these DLF phases, and online when needed.
