Maths Home Tutor in DLF Phase 5 and Golf Course Road: What Parents Ask Us

Answers to the questions DLF Phase 5 and Golf Course Road families ask most about a maths home tutor – society gate entry, session timing, international boards, demo classes, and how to judge progress.

Maths Home Tutor in DLF Phase 5 and Golf Course Road: What Parents Ask Us

DLF Phase 5 covers the Golf Course Road stretch around Sectors 42, 43, 53 and 54 – the high-rise societies, the DLF Golf and Country Club, and the Rapid Metro stations at Sector 42–43 and Sector 53–54. Families here often study in international or CBSE schools across Gurgaon, and many have used tutors before. These are the questions they ask us most.

"Can a tutor actually get into our society every week?"

Yes, but plan it once so it never becomes a problem. Most Phase 5 societies – the Aralias, Magnolias, Camellias, Crest, Park Place, Pinnacle, Icon, Belaire and others – have security desks that need a visitor entry or a pre-approved pass.

  • Register the tutor with your society's visitor system or the security desk in the first week.
  • Share the tower and flat number, and a backup phone number.
  • Keep the same slot each week; security teams get used to regular visitors.

That one setup step usually saves ten minutes at the gate every session.

"What time works best?"

For most students, straight after school and a short break – roughly 4:30 to 7 pm. Older students (Class 11–12, IB DP) often prefer 7–9 pm or weekend mornings. Avoid the slot right before a late activity or sport; a tired student learns little.

"We are in an IB or IGCSE school. Does the tutor know the board?"

This is the most important question to ask, and you should ask it plainly. IB and Cambridge maths are taught and assessed very differently from CBSE:

  • IB DP has two courses – Analysis and Approaches (AA) and Applications and Interpretation (AI) – each at SL or HL, plus an internal assessment (the exploration) worth 20%. See our IB maths tutor guide for DLF Phase 5.
  • IB MYP is assessed against criteria A–D, not just marks.
  • Cambridge IGCSE 0580 has Core and Extended tiers, each with a non-calculator and a calculator paper. See IGCSE maths tutor in DLF Phase 4 and 5.

A tutor who treats every board the same way will cost your child marks.

"What happens in the demo class?"

A good demo is not a sales pitch. It should include:

  1. A short diagnostic to find what your child can and cannot do.
  2. One topic taught, with your child doing most of the writing.
  3. A clear recommendation: what to fix first, how many sessions a week, and what to expect in a month.

You should leave the demo knowing something new about your child's maths, whether or not you continue.

"How will we know it's working?"

Agree on one measurable target at the start – a school test score, an IB or IGCSE grade, or a list of topics to secure. Then expect:

  • A short update after each session.
  • A review every four to six weeks against that target.
  • Honest advice if the plan needs to change.

"Can sessions be online when we travel?"

Yes. Many Golf Course Road families travel during school breaks. Online sessions keep the routine going, as long as the tutor can see your child's written working – a tablet with a pen or a phone camera over the notebook both work.
